Cut down, don’t cut out

This sounds counterintuitive, but for good reason. Cutting out food from your diet has one main effect: it makes you want it more. So rather than make yourself crave it even more by making it ‘forbidden’, have it in moderation. If your weakness is chocolate and you normally have a bar a day, you’ll still make progress if you have 2 bars a week instead of 7.
